Reading Cafe
Well done to all our children who have 'read like a champion'. This morning the children were surprised to find our reading cafe in Y1. The children enjoyed reading books with their friends whilst eating yummy chocolate brioche.
Well done to this terms reading champions Heidi and Sama.

Halloween Fun
We have had so much fun this week at Forest School. We have been making scary leaf creations and have labelled the parts of the body and the senses.
We have also had a ghoulish time carving apples.

What can you smell?
This week in Forest School we have been learning about the five senses; touch, taste, sight, smell and hear. In Science we did an experiment were the children had to smell different containers and try to guess the correct smell in each one. They recorded their answers and at the end we opened each container to find out what each smell was. The children absolutely loved this lesson and we loved watching their reactions.

This week in Forest School we have been working hard to work together as a team. The activities this week included team games, making animals from things that we found from the woodland area and bug hunting using the magnifying glasses.

Can you name and identify the different body parts?
This week in Forest School we have been learning about the different parts of the body. The children worked in pairs by lying down and placing the different body labels on the correct parts of the body. It was a challenge to stay still, ha!
The children were then asked to go and explore the woodland area for materials that they could use to make their own 'Stick Man'.

On Friday afternoons Year 1 will be accessing Forest School. The children will be having their Science lessons in this time. They will also be learning about the great outdoors and working hard on their teamwork skills. There may be time for the odd game of hide and seek as well as bug hunting and craft work!
We would like to say a BIG thank you to FOTSA for their kind donation which has bought each child a pair of waterproof trousers to wear outside.
Apple Picking
The children have been working so hard since returning to school in September. We decided that we needed a little treat. All the teachers and children went to the school orchard to pick some juicy apples, which could be eaten at snack times. We managed to fill a big bowl full of apples and pears. They were delicious!
